ARIMA BOYS' R.C. SCHOOL
CARNIVAL BAND
For many years under the talented Messieurs Alvin Dardaine and Alexis Benny Wellington, both now retired teachers, A.B.R.C.S. has brought out Carnival Bands with much success at the Carnival Saturday Children's Competition in Port of Spain and Carnival Sunday Competition in Arima.
In fact we have been National Band of the Year Winners for many years. We have won Best Creative Band - Medium in 2001 with “ART MATTERS”, and Large in 2002 and 2003 with “THAT’S IMPORTANT” and “SAVE! PRESERVE! CONSERVE!” respectively in Port of Spain. In 2005, we were 1st in Large Band of the Year-School with “Explosion-a celebration of Nature.” In 2007, our presentation ‘Shapes In Our Lives’ captured the Downtown Carnival School Band of the Year (Large) as well as the N.C.B.A title of School Band of the year large category, and won in every category that it entered in Arima. Our King, Queen and individuals also did us proud in 2007 by placing between first and sixth place in their respective categories. In 2008 our production “Colour Me A T&T” once again captured the N.C.B.A’s title of large school band of the year, placed forth overall, placed second in the creative band category, placed 1st in the use of local materials and 3rd in the spirit of carnival category. Our King and Queen also did us proud in 2008 by placing a creditable second and fourth in their respective school categories. Overall they placed 3rd and 5th respectively. In 2009 our production “It’s Nature’s Way” captured the first place in the Large School Band category, placed third overall, second in creative band category and third in the Spirit of Carnival Category of the N.C.B.A.’s competitions in Port of Spain. We have also won the Junior Parade of Band Title in Arima. The achievements of last year saw us capturing the prestigious N.C.B.A. title of Large School Band of the Year for three consecutive years. Our designer continues to be the indefatigable Mr. Peter David, a former pupil of this school.
Our 2010 presentation “Gens de Arime” once again captured the title of Large School Band Of The Year in Port of Spain again and captured all relevant titles in Arima.
